Typographic Analysis of Early Printed Books

Student Group

We shall measure types and text frames in an early printed book, and illustrate the metrics behind the words arranged in a specific page architecture. This will be done by observing books in Special Collections, taking notes and measuring with a pica ruler or type gauge. The starting point for our work will also be a sharp photography of the chosen page. The end result will be a 11"×17" research poster.
