Outbreak

  • Halle McMahon

Outbreak, oil paint, acrylic paint, glue on linen, 24" x 36", 2020.

Outbreak seeks to represent the feelings of anxiety and loneliness ever-present since the arrival of COVID-19. Dark shadows engulfing the masked figures speak to the confusion and uncertainty that follows us during these times as we both struggle with the present situation and wonder how to plan for the future, the only consolation being that this is a shared struggle. On the other hand, while this piece communicates the hardship faced by humanity today, it also hints subtly at the idea that the coming of this virus is no one's fault but our own, the gruesome effect of our greed and neglect of other non-human species.
