Mirror and Test

Mirror and Test, measuring 38 x 15 x 2 inches, is a sculpture made from etched copper and patina. It is a narrative exploring the impact of an individual choice. Twenty-eight individual cut copper plates were each etched then colored with reactive patina solutions. A poem is etched in place of markings on the subject and textural directional lines are etched over the remaining surface of the piece. The poem, found on the forehead and nose, reads: A choice forever, mirror and test, more than a companion, markings created, you made me who I am.
