This project was intended to exercise typographic skills, to evaluate the diverse experiences of ARTS 412 students, and to provide an opportunity to explore issues such as tone, voice, legibility and composition. Students were given a text by Georges Perec entitled Brief Notes on the Art and Manner of Arranging One’s Books.

Students were asked to read this text carefully. Then incorporate Perec’s text with their own list of books (all or selected titles, actual or desired), described and ordered in some way that responded to the Perec text and possibly commented on other major interests of theirs.
