We shall draw an original text (not decorative) typeface by hand and Illustrator. Digitize the typeface into an OTF font using Fontself Maker. Use the font to create a promotional type specimen. You have the following three options to chose from:
1. Un-serif a seriffed classic or established text design.
2. Design a typeface to solve a specific problem (proposal needed).
3. Draw a theoretical typeface following a planned 10-parameter specs (construction, ascender, descender, width, contrast type, contrast amount, stems, stroke endings, weight, application).
We shall use and conceptually apply the outcome from P1, the font, to design an “interface” that enhances the content. Reflect on “interfaces” in very broad terms — as anything that connects humans to machines, and minds to organized information. Generate original and systematically edited content, and a prototype or virtual mockup of the product.
